From the Center for Successful Parenting:

Help Us Stop Media Violence!

1. WE ARE ASKING JUDGES ACROSS AMERICA TO BEGIN USING THESE PROTECTIVE ORDERS:

MODEL PROBATION FINDING AND ORDER

The COURT finds that increasing evidence illuminates the vulnerability of immature youth to the detrimental influence of violent media. The COURT further finds that (insert child's name) has engaged in behavior that is harmful, immature and results in the finding that the child is in need of continued supervision by the (court's name).

Therefore, it is ORDERED that (child's name) shall not be permitted by parent, guardian, custodian or caregiver to possess or play with violent media. This order includes the following media (insert list with rating) as well as any media that is offensive to the adult who has custody of the child.

MODEL CUSTODY AND VISITATION-Finding and Order

The COURT finds that both parties desire to parent (minor child(ren) of the parties) in a healthy and proper manner. The vulnerability of child(ren) to harm from violent media may be heightened by various factors in changes of the social and family environment. The COURT finds that violent media such as (insert name of media and rating description) has no beneficial effect on children and does not promote the healthy development of children.

Therefore, It is ORDERED that neither parent shall permit the child(ren) to use, possess, or observe violent media while in their care, custody, and control. It is further ORDERED both of the parents shall supervise their child(ren)'s activities and companions so as to lessen or prevent any contact with violent media as herein described (insert list of media and ratings).

2. WE ARE ASKING CITIES ACROSS AMERICA TO CONSIDER PASSING THESE TYPES OF ORDINANCES:

City of Indianapolis & Marion County, Indiana

The unanimously approved Ordinance regulates the conduct of persons who own or operate places of business which contain amusement machines and/or video games, in such a manner that restricts and prohibits access to amusement machines and/or video games which are deemed harmful to minors, and to prohibit such amusement machines and/or video games on public property.

City of St. Louis, Missouri

This unanimously approved Ordinance not only regulates the conduct of persons who own and operate places of business which contain amusement machines and/or video games, it also prohibits children under the age of 17 from purchasing or renting extremely violent or sexually explicit home video games at retail stores without parental consent.

3. WE ARE ASKING GOVERNORS ACROSS AMERICA TO CONSIDER ISSUING FOSTER PARENT GUIDELINES REGARDING MEDIA VIOLENCE.
