WE ARE ASKING JUDGES ACROSS AMERICA TO BEGIN USING THESE
PROTECTIVE ORDERS:
MODEL
PROBATION FINDING AND ORDER
The
COURT finds that increasing evidence illuminates the vulnerability
of immature youth to the detrimental influence of violent
media. The COURT further finds that (insert child's name)
has engaged in behavior that is harmful, immature and results
in the finding that the child is in need of continued supervision
by the (court's name).
Therefore,
it is ORDERED that (child's name) shall not be permitted
by parent, guardian, custodian or caregiver to possess or
play with violent media. This order includes the following
media (insert list with rating) as well as any media that
is offensive to the adult who has custody of the child.
MODEL
CUSTODY AND VISITATION-Finding and Order
The
COURT finds that both parties desire to parent (minor child(ren)
of the parties) in a healthy and proper manner. The vulnerability
of child(ren) to harm from violent media may be heightened
by various factors in changes of the social and family environment.
The COURT finds that violent media such as (insert name
of media and rating description) has no beneficial effect
on children and does not promote the healthy development
of children.
Therefore,
It is ORDERED that neither parent shall permit the child(ren)
to use, possess, or observe violent media while in their
care, custody, and control. It is further ORDERED both of
the parents shall supervise their child(ren)'s activities
and companions so as to lessen or prevent any contact with
violent media as herein described (insert list of media
and ratings).

2. WE ARE ASKING CITIES ACROSS AMERICA
TO CONSIDER PASSING THESE TYPES OF ORDINANCES:
City
of Indianapolis & Marion County, Indiana
The
unanimously approved Ordinance regulates the conduct of
persons who own or operate places of business which contain
amusement machines and/or video games, in such a manner
that restricts and prohibits access to amusement machines
and/or video games which are deemed harmful to minors, and
to prohibit such amusement machines and/or video games on
public property.
City
of St. Louis, Missouri
This
unanimously approved Ordinance not only regulates the conduct
of persons who own and operate places of business which
contain amusement machines and/or video games, it also prohibits
children under the age of 17 from purchasing or renting
extremely violent or sexually explicit home video games
at retail stores without parental consent.

WE ARE ASKING GOVERNORS ACROSS AMERICA TO CONSIDER ISSUING
FOSTER PARENT GUIDELINES REGARDING MEDIA VIOLENCE.
