COMMUNITY
CONVERSATIONS FOR CITIZEN INITIATIVE
This information is provided by Dr. Ed Brenegar of Shared Wisdom
Networks.
"Think Wisely. Build Trust. Share Success."
Aristotle wrote that a city is "a partnership for living well."
Increasingly, cities, towns, states, and regions face challenges
to meeting that ideal. A Community Conversation for Citizen Initiative's
primary focus is the encouragement and enabling of citizens to
establish collaborative relationships with individuals and institutions
for efforts that produce a more healthy, harmonious community.
The range of services extends from presentations on citizen initiatives,
to the facilitation of Community Conversations on a particular
topic, to consultation on specific projects.
"You
Can Do It!": A Presentation on Citizen Initiatives
This presentation provides a practical, inspiring overview of
a successful citizen initiative, and how it can be done in any
community. Included in the presentation is information on:
-
How to organize your own citizen initiative project.
-
How to develop a successful grassroots, word-of-mouth promotion
campaign.
-
How to find and involve sponsoring organizations.
-
How to work with the local media.
Community
Conversation Facilitation
The facilitation of a Community Conversation by an outside dialogue
leader enables the Shared Wisdom of participants to be recognized
and integrated into a plan for action. This service can be done
with a small group of interested citizens who are seeking clarity
about how to proceed from a shared concern for their community.
It can be done with a large group of citizens who are not organized,
who do not know one another, yet share a common concern. The result
of this Community Conversation is clarity about the core values
represented by participants, clarity about the nature of the issue,
and realistic plan for action to which participants commit.
Consultation
Services for Citizen Initiatives
Consultation services provide the citizen initiators expertise
in the design and implementation of a project. This approach will
go into greater depth on:
-
How to organize your own citizen initiative project.
-
How to develop a successful grassroots, word-of-mouth promotion
campaign.
-
How to find and involve sponsoring organizations.
-
How to work with the local media.
